The WHAMCO Story...

WHAMCO is a mega-conglomerate multi-national military/industrial complex. It markets products in every conceivable consumer category. Its major commercial spokesmen were Steven B. Williams and Dan Hawkins.

These ads were provided to us on three LPs by the NBC Young Adult radio network — The Source — during my tenure as Program Director of WOSH-FM in Oshkosh, WI, in the early 80s.

And now comes some good news! At the beginning of April, 2005, Lee M. Withers contacted me saying that he was glad that I had preserved these ads on-line. Turns out that Mr. Withers still works in radio at KONA 610 AM Information Radio in Pasco, WA. He is a great fan of Messrs. Williams and Hawkins. One thing led to another and I wound up shipping my three copies of the WHAMCO LPs to Mr. Withers. He has used the studio recording equipment and software at KONA to dub the LP tracks (sans clicks and pops!) into Windows Media files.

Today, 14-Mar-2006. I'm able to offer you all the tracks from Discs 1, 2, and 3 of the Williams/Hawkins oeuvre in Windows Media format!
